FAQ

Why did you decide to start a blog?
I have been a journaler since I was in the 3rd grade. I still have most of my original journals, though I have yet to really go back and reread them. Needless to say, I have always enjoyed writing, so when I started reading blogs, I thought it would be an interesting way for me to write, and perhaps have someone read it - something that probably never would have happened otherwise.
There’s something about filling a space with something that came directly from your head - your ideas, thoughts, and feelings. I’m difficult to get to know and can be intimidating (according to outside sources). This way people get to know you on a level they might otherwise never have taken the time to do.
Words have always helped me get through good and bad times. I would never make a great orator because I don’t express myself well verbally. But writing? When I get something down on paper, organize it, and then reorganize it, something bigger usually becomes clear to me.
Why “Heidi Chronicles?”
I am a record keeper more than anything. My blog is taking the place of my journal, my calendar, Liam’s baby book, and anything else weird or exciting that happens around here. It’s chronological and it’s about my life. Plus, my dear friend always called all of the crap I kept around my Chronicles, so the name kind of stuck.
What the hell is “back blogging?”
It’s kind of along the same lines as back dating a check. I like things to be in order. And if I miss a day, I start wigging out. So, occasionally, I’ll go back in time and write about something that happened a few days ago. I like it to show up in chronological order and on the day it occurred. Initially, I felt like I was cheating by changing the timestamp, but now I don’t really care if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else. It makes perfect sense to me.
What is DDOL?
Daily Dose of Liam.
Where do you get your ideas?
Before we had Liam, I used to think a lot. About weird stuff. Hmmm…I kind of miss that.
Anyway, most of what I write has to do with daily life or some minute aspect of daily life. There’s not much time for anything else.
How does your blog relate to The Heidi Chronicles the play?
I had no idea this was a play. I hope they don’t sue me.
