Bedtime Struggles
Every night before bed, Liam asks me if he can have a drink. Every night I say yes, that he can have water. Every night he yells, “No Mama! I. Want. Milk.” And every night I explain to him that it’s not good for his teeth to have milk in bed because it can cause cavities. And cavities mean that we have to go to the dentist and he’ll have to use the drill - which hurts…and is loud. Soooo, no milk in bed.
He’s never pleased about it, but the fact that he’s heard the whir of the dentist’s toothbrush brings it right on home and he wants to avoid the noise at all costs. I’m not sure he even cares about the pain.
Tonight A was putting him in bed and Liam asked about milk. Aaron gave him some because he’s never heard my spiel, and Liam told him that he’s not supposed to have milk because, “Milk makes my head bleed.”
Evidently he tried diligently to relay our nightly conversation to Aaron without much success because Aaron came back down and asked me what in the hell he was talking about. It took me a minute, but I put the two together and explained.
However, I’m still not sure where he came up with bleeding. I never said anything about THAT.
