Mostly Packing
It was a lazy morning.
The kids went to Grandma Judy and Grandpa Ken’s house to play and Heath kept Ehtan home from church. Since A was gone, Mom, Heath, and I had a little time to chat when Ethan took his nap. Inevitably the conversation centers around our calendars and trying to plan the next trip, etc. The topics about life after death, what we want to be once our kids are grown up (or how it’s working out), and self discovery, are merely tangential.
But, it came to a close prematurely when we decided to have Gma B over for a lovely lasagna lunch. It was a spontaneous
decision and was just about the only way she’d see all of us over the holiday since Bri and left today. It was good to see her feeling well. A few months ago she had some crazy amount (like 1 C. or something) of bone spurs removed from her lower back. She could barely walk before the surgery, but she’s definitely up and around now.
She stayed for part of the afternoon and Heath and B packed up to leave. It was almost silent when they left. Four kids is a lot more than two. I’m sure no one would ever believe that my two and her two play quietly quite often…just not when they’re together.
A called a couple of times from the show and I got to here two bands I enjoy - The Bosstones, of course, and the Pietasters. I’ve seen both in concert before and I was a bit jealous as I listened to the snippets of songs amidst static and the yelling crowd.
The rest of the day was kind of busy. I tried to pack up some things to get ready to go tomorrow and I spent the evening trying to shove all of our gifts into three huge boxes, which Mom and Dad graciously offered to ship.
I’m worn out and if we weren’t seeing friends this week, I’d be ready to go home. Two weeks is a loong time. However, we ARE seeing our friends and I get to celebrate Christy’s birthday and eat Olivia’s big cheeks for 3.5 days.
And let’s not forget the playfully inappropriate banter with N & A. I really do miss them.
