Friday
After yesterday, I was COMPLETELY thrilled to stay home ALL day.
The kids watched a lot of television, but I got a lot done.
I started several lists for things that we need to get done before we move and I’m finally starting to feel a little more organized. That always makes me feel so much better about life in general. (I also finally took a shower after three days. That had to help my self esteem a little.)
I had one of those light bulb moments with E this afternoon and it really took me by surprise. She was tapping on the window with a golf ball and I told her that she shouldn’t tap on the window, but she could tap on the vent or the floor. She looked at me, bent down, and tapped on the vent.
I know she understands me because She does the sign for “all done,” (It just so happens it’s the same motion for “so big.”) but I was completely shocked when she actually did what I asked.
It was really nice though. At least one of my children is listening to me. Now whenever I ask L a question he just doesn’t answer. And when I say something is one way, he has to contradict me just because he can – but then he says the same thing I said as though it was his idea. Men.
Example:
We’re keeping Riley for A’s parents while they are on a bit of a jaunt so the dogs were running around like mad and I said to L, “Those dogs are CRAZY!” He looked at me like I was an idiot and said, “NO Mama. They’re not crazy…they’re just CRRRRRAAAAAAZY!!!”
Truly not a day goes by that I don’t have to stifle my laughter.
L and Gabe hadn’t seen each other in a while, nor had Sadie and E. Jenni, also my realtor, brought her kids over to play and I chatted while attempting to accomplish a few things.

A and I got the kids down at 8 so that we could watch last week’s episode of The Sopranos. Holy cow, things are getting CRRRRRAAAAAAZY! Christy joined us later in the evening for the entertainment

and it wasn’t long before A was falling asleep in his chair. (I SO wish I could sleep anywhere like he can.)
But before A went to bed, the three of us were sitting around talking and we heard a huge THUMP. It took me a few seconds to realize that L had fallen out of bed, and A and I sprinted up the stairs into his room. I made sure he wasn’t hurt and we got him back in bed. He got calmed down and managed to turn off the tears long enough to ask for a drink: “Pwease may I haf a gwass of ice cowd wateh?”
Again…the laughter stifling.
I guess A before he went to bed, A had told him to put his water in the fridge so that it would be “ice cold” tomorrow when he drank it.
Evidently L didn’t want to wait.
A checked out and C and I talked until almost 2 a.m! Tomorrow is going to be tough; we have to be at the zoo at 10.30 and I am going to have a hard time getting my act together by then.
The End
