Better Birthday
Today was MUCH better.
I’ll have to post about it later because I need to get some sleep.
Thank goodness for do-over birthdays.
Aside from the fact that we changed plans late last night and Jen and E didn’t get the message, the day went well. After J and E finished their breakfast, they came over with Gma and Gpa to have a little party.
I made this crazy chocolate angel food cake and was just finishing it up when everyone arrived.

It was so cute. G gave L the Spongebob Best Friends book for his leap pad, and made him an awesome apron for when he helps me cook. Unfortunately L wasn’t willing to model for us.
Gma and Gpa gave good gifts as well. Everything he got will be easy to pack and requires little space in the new homestead.

We were also celebrating Elias’ birthday, but the poor guy didn’t get much hoopla. He did, however, enjoy the cake and ice cream. And I don’t feel too terrible about not having a card or gift for him since I didn’t have anything for my own kid. (Don’t worry…yours will come, Elias.)
AJ left me with a child on a sugar high to go and have lunch with his high school English teacher.
(Um, how totally cool is that? I would LOVE to sit down and have a chat with Mrs. Ferguson and see what she’s up to these days. I know I could still do the dagger memorization for her if I just had a few minutes to practice.)
I, however, got the kids down for naps and worked my tail off organizing all of the kid crap and hauling it outside. The garage is a disaster.

We have SO much stuff we have to get rid of. It makes me a little weepy.
And after I got that done, I cleaned up a few other things and checked out. I am one burned out girl.
Birthday Bust
I am glad that L got to spend his birthday with Gabe. It was only right since we hosted Gabe when he turned two. (Thanks Jenni.) But aside from that, the day SUH-HUCKED.
The kid didn’t even get cake! It was bad. Not to worry, though…we’re having a do-over tomorrow.
Actually, I need to redo the day as well. I was a space cadet. I totally spaced L’s Dr. appt. I’ve NEVER done that!
But, we got to see Ang and O instead!

Regardless, happy birthday, Liam. I can’t believe you’re three! As I watched you fall asleep tonight after a terrible bedtime routine, I could see Baby Liam in your face. It doesn’t happen often but I love when it does. I wonder, will I always be able to see it?
And I promise that I’ll make up for the time I haven’t spent with you while we are getting the house ready to list; you have no idea how much I’ve missed it. And I know you have too since the only way you’d go to sleep tonight was when I got in bed with you.
I love you VERY much, kiddo. And your update will come. I just couldn’t get it done in time.
No…Sleep…’til - well, I don’t know when.
I pulled an all-nighter last night. I haven’t done that since I was pregnant with Elena and just couldn’t sleep. I actually enjoyed it. It was quiet, nobody was bugging me, and I was ORGANIZING.
Mmmmmm, organizing.
I didn’t even realize how late it was until it was already 2 a.m. I was going to do one more thing and the next time I looked at my watch, it was 4. What’s the point of going to bed for two hours?
Uh…there’s no point whatsoever.
So, I worked through it - and even managed to be a good mama -

and now it’s 11 p.m. and I’m trying to get to a good stopping point so that I’ll be able to bust my ass in the morning to get the house completely picked up before Fili gets here.
I’d also like to do something special for Liam; tomorrow is his birthday. I have no card, no gift, no party planned for the day of - I feel bad about it, but I just couldn’t get it done with everything else going on. (L, I love you very much and I’ll buy you something when we get to London so that we don’t have to move it from here.)
Fortunately A will be home in the evening, so maybe that will be enough to keep him happy. Oh, and he gets to go to Pump It Up, or something of the same vein, in the morning with Gabe.
And, he’s sleeping with me tonight…when I go to sleep. I’ll be the first person he sees on his third birthday. I’m sure he’ll remember the scary hair for the rest of his life.

- The kids spent the majority the day at Grandma’s - with Gabe and Sadie! (Gma is nuts.)
- E fussed and slept 40 minutes total and L finger painted on Gma’s glass door with yogurt
- I worked to get all of the kid stuff out into the garage and off of the living room floor, made a few necessary phone calls, was at the house when the peeps came to fix the front door and pick up our junk, and talked to AJ for a few minutes
- Jen, Jules, and Ethan came by to look at clothes. She’s hosting a bday party for Liam on Monday and thinking about not having her around made me teary eyed. I’ve been so lucky to have so many close friends here. I will miss them terribly.
- A has located a neighborhood that he’s grown quite fond of: Hampstead.

- When I went to pick up L, he had done a good job (aside from the yogurt) at Gma’s playing with Gabe. I wanted ice cream, so I told him we could go to McDonald’s. When we pulled in, he asked if there were any animals on the farm. It took me a minute, but I got it. He confirmed my suspicion I was getting ready to order. He asked “Are we hafing ice cweam fwom Owd McDonawd’s?” Then he wanted to sit inside. He was very upset when I told him we had to come home. He threw a fit, but came around as soon as he saw me take a bite of the milky goodness.
- We ate dinner, I gave the kids a bath (am trying out a new routine), and got them in bed. I got to work picking up the carpeted areas on the main floor so that I could vacuum and clean them. I got the main floor done.
- L woke up a few minutes ago after he wet the bed - through his pull-up. Weird, eh?
- It’s a good thing we’re listing the house this weekend. Although I won’t have everything done the way I want it, I’m not going to be able to go on like this much longer.
I’m up too late again tonight. One is supposed to be my limit, but here it is two and I’m still going. I’m just waiting for this place to be listed so I can catch up on my sleep.
Fortunately Jeanne is keeping the kids again for me tomorrow afternoon. Maybe I’ll get a little power nap in.
