We all need some Mama Time now and then.
Today was the first day that I’ve really gotten to spend some time with just Liam.
Jeanne kept E for me so that L and I could go to KM. It was the best Kindermusik class we’ve had in quite a while.
I really don’t care if L liked it, because I had a fantastic time. He acted so much better than usual. I kept waiting for him to scream. I told him beforehand that if he screamed we’d have to go home. I don’t think he was willing to give up Gabe or Auntie Jen, so he was quiet the entire time. And he sat on my lap most of the time when he was supposed to.
Poor Gabe wasn’t his usual self today either. He’s having a difficult time with Jenni being so busy with Sadie.
Jen, Elias, Gabe and Sadie all came to KM this morning with the understanding that Elias would be joining Gabe for KM. As soon as Jen walked in the room, it was clear that Daddy was getting the boot. I have never seen a kid so excited to have Mama to himself.
Of course, poor Jen is still recovering from Sadie’s arrival. It was a bit difficult for her when Gabe wanted her to jump, etc. She was a trooper, though.
L and I ran a few errands before we picked up E.
We went to the grocery store and he got to have cheese from the deli. (I love this…so much better than a cookie.) Drove through the bank and he got to see the pneumatic tubes up close and personal. Finally, we went to get my passport picture taken. (It’s been expired for a year.)
Ok, so I got my first picture taken 10 years ago and it’s a leetle bit outdated.
At least I didn’t look like a convict.
Now, I can explain.
First of all, it was windy outside and when I walked in there wasn’t a mirror where I could see my hair. Second, the woman taking the picture - who was super nice, by the way - told me not to wear my glasses because Terror Patrol is particular about it. Something about the glare and being able to see your eye color. Third, I didn’t get any notice as to when she was going to take the picture, so I didn’t smile. Finally, she didn’t let me see the picture before she started working with it…or I would have asked her not to use this one.
Regardless, I’m going to have them retaken. With this picture in place, I’d be too embarrassed to travel internationally for the next 10 years.
And next time I’m not wearing a black t-shirt. I really should mix it up a bit. Perhaps white this time and I’ll go back to black the next time it expires.
Anyway, L was wonderful all morning. Even when I was getting my picture taken and waiting for the scary results, he listened and did what I asked. I’ve decided that I can totally handle them one at a time.
However, there really should be a requirement that moms get at least an hour during the day where we don’t have to deal with either of them.
(I’m scheming ways to work this out. If I can make it work, I will not be sharing my secret via the blog. But, for three small monthly payments of…. Ha ha…I think I’m so funny sometimes.)
Both of mine were up at six today and I had one or both of them until after eight this evening. It’s tough to have them both in the evening by myself. AJ is gone again tonight so I’m single momming it.
We did end up having a good evening. We all rocked in E’s room and I sang to both of them. Then we read to keep L happy.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) they both needed to get to bed at the same time. This makes bed time difficult. I had to hurry through both of their routines. L was so sad.
I am so tired.
