AJ and I took L and E up to the courthouse today to visit the Judge and do a little Halloweening. AJ’s firm isn’t doing a trick or treat event at the office this year, but the courthouse was, so we went there.
L managed to get out the three words that matter and was SO excited when he got to pick some candy.
For the rest of the day, he said, “Want candy now, please.”

We’ll have to work on “trick or treat” before next week.
However, he kept trying to give his candy to the Judge and his court reporter. They were kind and gave it back to him when he asked for it. (He ALWAYS asks for it back…unless it’s something he’s fed you. It’s more of a loan than a gift.)

He greatly enjoyed the visit and all of the attention.

Plus, he got to ride in an elevator.
I heard about that all day too.

Now, the courthouse was fantastic, but once we got home, it wasn’t so great.
I did manage to keep L awake in the car for the 35 minute trip home. But when we got in the house and headed up for nap time, the battle began.
I got him in his room at 1.20ish and he talked and screamed until 2.45, when he finally went to sleep. (I will say this…he stays in his bed - even without all of the rails. Impressive, no?) Fortunately, my ignoring skills are muy excelente.
E had been asleep since 9.30 and she was cashed out all through KM and the courthouse. So, when I put L down, she got up.
I had all these plans about what I was going to do this afternoon…and I did get a few things done, but not all that I wanted to.
I managed to bake the experimental sugar cookies I mixed up yesterday using millet flour and crisco instead of flour and butter.
Um…yeah…too many substitutes. They taste awful. I finally threw them away this evening. But not before I tried to pawn them off on Liam.
He wanted nothing to do with them.
I’m sure it’s because they were terrible, but I have to wonder if has anything to do with the taste of Nestle Crunch Crack he got this afternoon.
I’d take crappy chocolate mixed with unknown crunchy stuff over an overly substituted cookie any day.
