I don’t have time to write - I’m too busy having contractions.

Well, the last two nights I have had contractions about 5 minutes apart for more than an hour.  (Last night it was more like three hours.)  I didn’t call the Dr., because I really didn’t want to go to the hospital and when I finally lay down to go to sleep last night, they stopped.

Ok, before all of you preterm labor moms get on my ass, you should know that I had my regular 32 week appt. today.  She found out soon enough.  Of course she said I should have called.  (And I will next time, but I’m not going to the damn hospital if I don’t think I’m in labor.  I DO remember what true labor feels like, and these - although a little uncomfortable - weren’t true labor.)
Just to be on the safe side, she did a test that is 99% accurate at predicting preterm labor.

WHO KNEW THEY COULD DO THIS???? (If you want more info, you can read about it here.)
We find out results from that on Wed. and if it’s negative, we’re most likely home-free.  We didn’t go into the details for it coming back positive, but I really don’t think it’s going to be a problem.  I did two things differently today and I’ve only had a few, minor contractions.

  1. I drank enough water.
  2. I actually took a few minutes to sit rather than entertaining guests or painting for 10 hours.

So, between doing that and the knowledge that my cervix is still closed, I’m not too worried about it. I just don’t think this baby is going to come early.  If she’s anything like Liam, she’s dead set on making these last two months of pregnancy long and drawn-out.

We milk it for all it’s worth.

FYI- i had similar contractions with Will (for what it’s worth) and he was a day late, so i am sure all will be fine!

Wow. You’ve had some excitement in your life. Hope all is well now. I would have been freaking out. So glad to hear you stay cool, calm and collected.

Take it easy! You are far enough along that they probably won’t do to you what they did to me, but trust me…you do not want to do the magnesium sulfate thing, nor do you want to be on bedrest if the restrictions of the PP drove you nuts. Get some help with the rest of the preparations you need to make for the baby and rest every chance you get.

The paint-job looks fabulous, but of course I’m more concerned about you. Promise me that starting tomorrow, you will let me do things around the house for you so you can stay off your feet. Love you bunches.
