Life (In London), Medicated

Shower of the year.

Filed under: Family, Friends, Liam — Heidi at 3:54 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2006

Today Liam and I went over to Jen’s to help with Aaron’s cousin, Chelsea’s, wedding shower. It was a gala event with something like seven hostesses.

I made 50+ cookies as my part of the hostess duty. Naturally, I forgot to take my camera to the event, so here are the pics that I took before they were so beautifully staged on plates at the shower.

Chels likes pink and she likes pigs, so that was the theme.

I have no idea how many people attended because I was busy trying to keep Liam and Gabe occupied. Thank goodness for the toys and Ashley and Alli. The two of them played with the kids for at least an hour and I actually got to watch Chels open a few of her million and a half gifts. (She’s a well-liked girl, that Chels.)

Because I was so busy thinking about the cookies, I forgot to go and get her an actual gift. So, I got online and ordered a gift certificate from BB&B and then baked one more cookie.

I kept screwing up the icing on the gift certificate, so I tried to cover it up with more icing. It got really thick and scary. But I didn’t have time to bake anymore this morning, so on it went.

Anyway, I thought it was funny.

I attached it to a cake board with icing and the “Johnson 182″ cookies I’d made earlier. (Chels’ favorite band is Blink182 and she’s marrying a boy with the last name of Johnson, which is also her last name, so it works.)

The shower lasted from 10 to about 1.30. I think that Chels was pleased with everything. She got a ton of good stuff and it took 20 minutes to carry it all out to the car.

I need a haircut.

This is what it looks like in the mornings.

EEEEEK.

I haven’t seen my sister or my stylist for far too long.

Anyone want to take a razor to it?

It’s 4:20 on 4/20. What are you/your kids doing to celebrate?

Heard this on NPR yesterday.  It made me laugh.

Couple of quick things.

I have a ton of research to do on numerous items today, so I don’t have time for a good post. However, needed to update on a couple of things.

1. My dad is home and is resting well. Thanks for all of your thoughts.

2. Nebraska Furniture Mart came today and I believe that all is finally complete with our bed. Here she is.

I am quite pleased.

3. However, we’ve had problems locating king pillows for A and me. We’re soft-pillow kind of people. Everything is stuffed to the max. After going three places, I finally realized that I could just remove some of the stuffing. (Hello, dumbass!) The pillow on the left is original size. The one in the middle is mine with some of the stuffing taken out, and the one on the right is the pillow that AJ currently uses.

Here’s what it looked like after I took the stuffing out of AJ’s new pillow. (Note safety pin usage so that pillow can be easily adjusted if need be.)

4. Finally, these are a few of the swatches I’m looking at for paint colors. Please IGNORE THE ONE ON THE RIGHT. I forgot to pull it out before I took the picture and I’m too lazy to go back and crop it out.

That’s all the fun stuff for the moment. Now on to what I’m REALLY supposed to be doing.

Larry Chronicles: Day 3.

I talked to dad this morning and he is feeling better - full of shit, as usual, which was great to hear.
No more stomach tube and supposedly he is going to get to eat some solid food and POSSIBLY go home later today.

We’ll see.

By the way, thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers.  I really do appreciate it.
