DDOL: Do toilet water Cheerios taste good if no one sees you eat them?

Filed under: Liam — Heidi at 1:41 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2005

Yesterday I gave him some Cheerios at his little table while he was watching Sesame Street. I didn’t make him sit in a chair. I figured that he’d just hang out by the food and the tube. It was supposed to be a little treat. You know, so that he could demonstrate how trustworthy he is.

However, it got far too quiet. I looked up and he had turned the television off, taken the Cheerios and made a run for it.

Trustworthy, my ass.

I searched the usual hideouts. Having no luck, I headed for the bathroom since, like an idiot, I had neglected to put the gate back in place after feeding the dogs. Yep, I found him in the bathroom throwing Cheerios into the toilet and then retrieving them. His arm was wet up to his elbow. I am not sure what he was doing with them after that. It’s just too nasty to speculate.

The price paid for the delectable taste of royal icing.

I had to scrub three layers of skin off my lips with my toothbrush. Those suckers are CHA-AAPPED now.

It was worth every wince.

DDOL: The happy dance.

Our friends have a dog who, when excited, sways back and forth and lifts his front feet one at a time during the sway. I think L might have picked up on it. Lately, when he’s really happy about something - like when I ask him if he wants me to turn on the music (it’s like crack), he does the picking-up-the-feet sway. And it cracks me up because I think of Marley (dog) every time.

L has also taken to shaking his booty when I say, “Who’s my wiggle worm?” AJ and Murphy must have taught him that. A is always making Murph do “The Butt Dance.” And he just takes it. If only I had the patience with Aaron that Murphy does. That Murphy is a saint.

Of mud pies, forts, and lemonade stands - that’s what neighbors are made of.

Since I was at my parents’ this weekend, I managed to get a few pics of some of the aforementioned means of play with our neighbors, Ryan and Sarah.

Building a snow fort. (Note red van in background.)

Making mud pies.

One of 18 million lemonade stands.

Additionally, my sis and Ryan have added comments on the original post, if anyone is interested. Now we’re just waiting on Sarah. Yes, this is a threat. If she doesn’t post a comment, I will have to pull out incriminating pics of her in very big, red glasses.

DDOL: And I didn’t stop to breathe until just now.

Put simply, today was crazy. The overarching theme is that Liam has one eye tooth that is ready to pop. Well, color me whiny, but I’d like to lance the gum just to get it over with for him. The poor kid is miserable.

I knew it was going to be a rough day with him and I had a ton of errands to run, so I decided we’d head out early and get everything done. In order to do this, L went in his jammies. I truly wish I could go to the store in my footie jammies. They are so toasty.

So, we headed out to the car, I get L in and he’s all excited to “go go go” and I get in to start the car and it’s dead. Not just it won’t start, but completely, no-ding, ding, ding, no-lights, no-clock D-E-A-D. I called Aaron and he recalled leaving the key in the ignition after taking out a CD. Oops.

Fortunately we live within two blocks of his parents and his dad came over and jump-started the Jeep with his handy-dandy Mercedes Jump Kit. It was very interesting…the battery was in the trunk of his car. Neither of us knew that until today.

Now the car is running, but it has to run for like 20 minutes before I turn it off. I need to go to Sam’s, which is about 10 minutes from my house. That wasn’t going to be long enough, so I drove to AJ’s parents’ house and ended up going with his mom to Sam’s and Hobby Lobby and leaving L with Grandpa with the car running and a timer set for 15 minutes to remind him to shut it off.

It was the BEST. THING. EVER.

Jeanne and I have not been shopping like that since BL (Before Liam). I ran in to Sam’s to get “just a few things” and she was just making an exchange, but we strutted out of there with a flatbed cart loaded with stuff - gifts for me, Emalee, Ethan, Liam, Liam and Liam. It was a blast. I NEVER get to go into a store and look around for fun. Gotta keep the cart moving or the Lammer tries to stand up on the seat. But guess what? The same thing happened at Hobby Lobby. I went in for food coloring and a big roll of white paper, but I ended up going crazy in the cake/cookie decorating department. I have some serious plans for cookies and gingerbread houses this year - had to stock up.

Yep, I managed to spend about $250 today in less than two hours. Then I picked up Liam and went to Wal-Mart and dropped $200 more.

God, I love power shopping.

Got home, had lunch, L went down for a nap and I looked at the house.

Uh oh.

It took me the entire two hours of nap time to get it to the point of being somewhat livable…and it’s not done yet. I still have to put stuff away tomorrow. That’s what I get for leaving town. Ugh.

Oh well, this made me happy.

The snow was light and fluffy and it came down on and off all afternoon. Liam got to see it when he got up. However, he was more interested in the birds. He keeps signing “bird.” He did it while we were on the way out of Wal-Mart as well. I think I’ve shown him that sign like three times or something. Little sponges, children are.

We watched the snow, ate some dinner, Aaron got home and he played with L so I could bake sugar cookies. I’m decorating them tomorrow (hopefully). Should be entertaining. I enjoy doing fun projects during nap time and in the evening.

Speaking of, on the schedule for tomorrow eve: bringing up the christmas tree and preparing to decorate.

Holy crap, it’s going to be December.
