DDOL: Staying with Grammy and Grandpa

Filed under: Family, Liam — Heidi at 3:05 pm on Friday, September 30, 2005

Liam is staying with his Grammy and Grandpa while AJ and I attend wedding events this weekend. Everyone is dying to see him, but if we take him, I’ll be chasing him all night. I’m sure he’ll have a great time playing with them. I’ll be interested to see how he does without nursing. I think we’re getting closer and closer to weaning. Who knows.

Fall has fallen.

I stepped outside this morning to get the dogs to come back in the house and while I was talking to them, I saw my breath. It was so refreshing. I love this time of year…as long as it’s daylight.

And, since every web designer I know is busy at the moment, I hope you’ll excuse my header. I had to make it myself. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to do this stuff. I guess once I hit 30 I became a technological anachronism.

If it’s this ugly, will you still read it?

SharmaWedding.com - Family Dinner

Last night we were included in a family dinner at the Sharma household. I think it was to honor Neal’s mom, but I’m not quite sure that I understand why. Whatever, there was a lot of foot touching, which is a sign of respect, and a ton of delicious homemade Indian food. Oh, and pizza. They always have pizza.

It was a great opportunity to meet all of the people involved in the wedding and to get reacquainted with some whom I’ve met previously.

Liam also enjoyed the party immensely. Since everyone had to remove their shoes upon entering the house, there was quite a pile. At one point, he turned and realized this. All Aaron could say was that he was the happiest he’d ever seen him. I’d say the look was pure glee. He headed over to partake in the newly discovered bounty. I don’t think AJ had to pry the shoes out of his clenched hands or mouth this time, so that was nice.

I got to watch Ang get dressed in her saree and I still have no idea how to do it. It’s a damn good thing that some of the women are going to be on hand to dress us on Friday.

We headed out around 9. I heard that the poker game following the event went until the wee hours of the morning. Good for them. I was home, in bed, asleep by 10.

Do I really look THAT bad without?

Neal: You look great tonight! Your skin looks fantastic. Did you do something different?
Me: No…
Neal (interrupting): Oh, you’re wearing MAKEUP!

DDOL: 15 month appt.

Went to the Dr. this morning. I love him, I really do, but the wait is awful. We were there for an hour and a half. Ugh.

At any rate, L is doing just fine. If he continues on the same growth curve, he’ll be 6 feet by the time he’s 18.

However, we have to get the little babbler making some sense of his words. The Dr. is threatening me with a speech therapist if L isn’t using meaningful words by the time he’s 18 months.

Seriously, if it takes THAT long for him to talk, I am going to need therapy.
