DDOL: Miss Lin is not Miss Laura

Filed under: Liam — Heidi at 4:05 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2005

We’re trying out a new Kindermusik class this semester. We wanted to take it with our buddies Jack and Ade. It’s going fine so far, and we love seeing the two of them each week, but it’s not the same as Miss Laura’s class.

A comparison:

  • Unfortunately, Miss Laura’s class isn’t convenient for us this semester. We didn’t make it a single time on time last semester. Miss Lin’s class is later in the morning.
  • Miss Laura’s class requires a bit of a drive to get there. Miss Lin’s class is two minutes from our house.
  • Miss Laura’s class doesn’t have Jack, but it does have Gabe. Miss Lin’s class has Jack, but no Gabe.
  • Miss Laura has a smaller classes. I don’t know if it’s her choice, but it’s really nice. Miss Lin has a class of 10-plus. There’s room for everyone, but it’s a little crazy.
  • Miss Laura has a rapt audience - parents included. If we want to talk in Miss Laura’s class, we get a gentle reminder that we can visit after class. Miss Lin stops class to tell stories.
  • Miss Laura is organized and has everything ready to go for the next song, dance, etc. Plus, she always gives very detailed instructions. She was a teacher and it shows. Mis Lin is a little scatter-brained. I just don’t have the patience for that.
  • Overall, Miss Laura’s class is generally a quieter atmosphere. I think L was a little freaked out today by all of the madness at Miss Lin’s. It was crazy.
  • Finally, Miss Laura encourages EVERYONE to sing. That way the ones of us who DO sing (not well) don’t feel like such idiots.
  • What can I say…Miss Laura rocks.

I don’t know Miss Laura, but I have to agree with everything else! It’s a little overwhelming!!
