Cilantro: Soap, Feet, or Aromatic Wonder?

Filed under: Garden — Heidi at 8:02 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2005

I planted an herb garden. It was so much fun to mess in the dirt.

I only thought about it because I bought cilantro the other day for this black bean salad and remembered that I had some seeds. (I love cilantro but I know that many people do not share my sentiments.)

At any rate, I put out a few pots with basil, cilantro, mint, chives, and flat leaf parsley. I hope it’s not too late in the season for them to flourish. I have grown fresh herbs before, but last year I wasn’t so great about keeping up with them after L was born and they didn’t do so well. This time I’d like to be able to move them in for the winter, but we’ll see what happens.

I also planted a few flowers from seeds that my grandpa had given me. I’m excited to see what they look like. I intentionally did not look them up in my flower book so that I’ll be surprised when they come up. I enjoy watching plants grow. It amazes me that all they need from me is water and they just…well, they just grow!

Anyhoo, I’d love to hear from all of you. Cilantro: Friend or Foe?

Definitely Soap. Cilantro is another one of those things that I really really wish I liked. Kind of like tomatoes, broccoli, milk (without chocolate)…

I think that if evil had a flavor, it will be cilantro.
