Had a BAD experience with L. I decided to make banana pancakes because the bananas I had purchased two days prior were already headed south. (That makes me so mad.) L was watching me in his booster up by the stove so he could see. I was positive that he was not within reach of the stove, but when I moved the pan to put a pancake on a plate, he grabbed it.

Need I say how absolutely HORRIBLE I felt?

The poor kid has a burn and it breaks my heart.

We sat on the front porch and played in cold water to try to ease the pain.

Memorial Day

Went over to Neal and Ang’s for an amazing picnic. I think Ang should have a catering company. She made tomato/mozz/basil salad, tortellini pasta salad, chili cheesecake, grilled corn on the cob, chicken and brats. V. tasty. She had help from Wade, Michelle and Neal. Wade also made some fabulous Mexican Martinis and Michelle whipped up some strawberry shortcake.

I did manage to impress, however, with my homemade chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches. All that slaving over the hot oven (and my own burn) was worth it.

We stayed a little later than everyone else. It was so nice to visit with Neal and Ang after the crazy weekend. A and N smoked cigars and we all played with L. He had a great time and did an excellent job ALL weekend long. I am proud of him.

Additionally, I was talking to him at breakfast and I said “Mama.” He very determinedly said, “Mmmmmah mmah.” I don’t count it, because he wouldn’t do it again, but you should have see the look on Aaron’s and my face.

First Burn :(

I had to sweep up the cotton from our tree that sheds every May because it was making me nuts. AJ and L played in the water. I hope he doesn’t get a blister. :(

Had a little trouble getting out of the house after Grandma and Grandpa arrived to keep L. First of all, I was running behind from the wonderful nap that I managed to get in. Both L and I slept for 2.5 hours. Thank goodness…had to make up for Saturday night as some point.

Anyway, AJ ran over the stroller with the car and it got stuck under there.

Why, you ask, was the stroller behind the car? Well, I put it there when I was trying to unload and reload cars to hook up the trailer. AJ walked by it to get in the car and I had completely forgotten about it. So, back to the story.

I got out to check it out and bent down to look under the car to assess the damage. A guy walking by saw that I was all dressed up and offered to help us get it out. (I am pretty sure he saw my skivvies when I bent down to look under the car before he offered to help.) After some manipulation, he got it out and we headed out. We barely made it to the wedding on time. Lucky for Aaron I knew a super secret back way to get into the church.

It was wonderful. Short and simple. The bride and groom looked fantastic. They are such a great couple.

Reception was amazing as well. The venue was gorgeous and so were the flowers and the cake. We were all seated together and had a great time. It got a little crazy. Found out that one of Aaron’s friends is pregnant. Though it was unexpected, I am excited for them. They will be too…it’s just such new news for them. And, Angela made up a new dance called the Propeller. This is what it looks like.

I started missing L a little at 8.30. But, I managed to shake my booty for a few hours more on the dance floor. I felt suddenly young again.

After a quick group shot,
Group
we headed home to relieve our sitters. Were home by 11. Not too shabby.
